I took this photo in May, 1998 before boarding the train myself. This is Flagstaff, Arizona, served by the westbound train roughly at 10 pm. A friend and I were riding to Los Angeles after we spent four days in Tucson.

The Southwest Chief is Amtrak’s transcontinental Chicago to Los Angeles train that follows the route of the famous Santa Fe Super Chief.
