Vintage baggage carts add character to this March 28, 1959 view from the rear of the motor train. The mail and express car at left, spotted on the Jacksonville main behind the depot, had arrived overnight in train No. 7, the Midnight Special, and would be added to No. 6, the northbound counterpart, for return to Chicago. The trailer cars used on this Kansas City run had come from the Gulf, Mobile & Northern, a component of the “original” GM&O.
