The Burlington Northern Railroad is a little over a year old, and Amtrak is a month away, so this is BN westbound passenger #31"Empire Builder" and #25 “North Coast Limited” departing Union Station behind three CB&Q E-units. The interlocking tower that controls the entrance to the south trainshed is seen on the right; the C.U.S. employees within direct trains of GM&O, Penn Central, and BN in and out of the south tracks, and they also direct transfer moves – freight and passenger – into and out of the tracks on the far right that pass along the Chicago River to the north side of Chicago Union Station.

Note: The light coloured building is the uniquely designed CP Hotels Chateau Champlain. This 40 story, 600 room hotel is the tallest hotel in Montreal. It opened early in 1967 in time for Expo 67.
