Amtrak’s Pacific International heads north through Golden Gardens in Seattle en route to Vancouver, BC. This transition period featured steam generator cars to handle the steam heat still used by passenger cars dating back to the early 1950s. This train has an x-GN heater car rebuilt from an F3B, a former SLSF or MKT coach bought second hand by GN, and a former Wabash domed observation.
